Madison

Madison has some of the finest antebellum homes in the state, and throughout the year there are a number of annual events taking place in the county including the Madison in May Tour of Homes. In addition, the Madison Arts Festival and the City of Bostwick Cotton Gin Festival are also annual events.


The Steffen Thomas Museum & Archives

Located on 4200 Bethany Road in Buckhead, GA, the Steffen Thomas Museum offers art education programs and projects for children and families in rural Northeast and Middle Georgia communities. The museum owns and displays a large collection of works by artist Steffen Thomas, as well as other works by local artists. Workshops for children and adults are held on a regular basis. Morgan County African-American Museum

Morgan County African-American Museum is instrumental in preserving African-American heritage and promoting awareness of the contributions the African-American has made to the culture of the South. Located at 156 Academy Street in Madison, it occupies a historic house--Moore House--that dates from 1890. Many artifacts and furniture representative of the rich African-American heritage of the region are constantly on display, in addition to itinerant exhibits. Big Sandy Creek Dairy Farm

Located on 4541 Bostwick Road, Bostwick, Ga, Big Sandy Creek Dairy Farm is a small family dairy farm which has been in operation in Georgia since 1950 and is home to the first milking parlor. For more information, please visit their website.


Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum

Located on 2950 Eatonton Road in Madison, GA, the Microcar Museum displays the largest collection of microcars in the world. Please visit their website for more information, and for a glimpse at some of these phenomenal vehicles.


Jack Creek's Tree Farm

Located at 2291 Price Mill Road in Bostwick, GA, this tree farm produces award-winning Christmas trees that are made available during the Christmas season using the "choose and cut" method to families wishing to enhance their holiday experience by procuring a tree the old fashioned way. Hard Labor Creek State Park

Located in Rutledge, this 5,800-acre park offers many recreation opportunities in a beautiful wooded setting, including more than 24 miles of trails, 49 campsites, 20 cottages, 4 picnicshelters, 2 group shelters, lakeside beach, an 18-hole golf course considered the most challenging and scenic in the state, fishing and equestrian facilities, and many more amenities.
